Radiology & Ultrasound
Radiology and ultrasound technology at Sheridan Pet Care provide a non-invasive way to assess your pet's internal health. These advanced imaging tools enable detailed evaluation of organs to support accurate diagnoses and guide effective treatment plans.

Digital Radiology (X-Rays)
Digital X-rays use electromagnetic radiation to produce detailed images of your pet's internal structures. They are commonly used to detect skeletal fractures, soft tissue damage, foreign bodies, dental disease, and to evaluate the heart and lungs. Digital radiology produces crisper, more detailed images than traditional film, with less radiation exposure for your pet. Results are available immediately, which means faster answers and less waiting.
In some cases (particularly for orthopedic imaging), your pet may need to remain very still, which can require brief sedation. Our team takes every precaution to keep your pet safe and comfortable throughout the process.
Ultrasound Imaging
Ultrasound exams provide real-time imaging of your pet's internal organs and soft tissues, offering a detailed look at structures that X-rays alone may not fully capture. This non-invasive tool is especially useful for examining the liver, kidneys, spleen, and bladder, diagnosing conditions like tumors, cysts, and fluid buildup, assessing heart structure and function, monitoring pregnancy and fetal development, and guiding procedures such as sterile urine collection and biopsies. Ultrasound exams are safe, painless, and highly effective at providing the clarity needed for accurate diagnosis and timely treatment.
When Diagnostic Imaging May Be Recommended
Our veterinarian may recommend X-rays or an ultrasound if your pet is experiencing symptoms such as unexplained weight loss or appetite changes, persistent vomiting or diarrhea, difficulty urinating or suspected bladder issues, lameness or suspected fractures, or abnormal lab results that require further investigation. Combined with our in-house diagnostics, imaging helps us build a complete picture of your pet's health, enabling us to develop the most effective care plan.
