Vaccinations & Microchipping
Keeping your pet up to date on vaccinations and getting them microchipped are two of the easiest and most important things you can do to protect their health and safety. At Sheridan Pet Care, we provide personalized vaccine recommendations and microchip implantation to give your pet lasting protection at every stage of life.

Vaccinations: Essential Protection for Your Pet
Vaccinations are a cornerstone of disease prevention, safeguarding your pet and the broader community. They protect against serious illnesses such as rabies, parvovirus, and distemper, and help prevent disease outbreaks in your community.
Customized for Your Pet and Your Life
Not every pet needs the same vaccines. Core vaccines are those recommended or required by law for most pets. These include rabies for dogs and cats, DA2PP (distemper, hepatitis, adenovirus 2, parvo, and parainfluenza) for dogs, Leptospirosis for dogs, and RCP (feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia) for cats. For dogs who frequent dog parks, boarding kennels, or other social settings, we may also recommend Bordetella vaccines. We also carry the rattlesnake vaccine.
We know that's a lot of acronyms. Our team will walk you through exactly what your pet needs based on their age, health, and lifestyle. Even pets who live primarily indoors should be vaccinated, as they can still come into contact with harmful pathogens through windows, other pets, or even on your clothing.
Microchipping: A Simple Step for Long-Term Safety
Microchipping offers a safe, permanent form of identification that significantly increases the chance of being reunited with your pet if they're ever lost. Collars and tags are important but can be easily lost or removed. We recommend microchipping as a reliable backup for all dogs and cats.
A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and is implanted under your pet's skin between the shoulder blades. The procedure takes only a few minutes and can be completed during any wellness visit to our clinic. Each microchip is linked to a unique registration number connected to your contact information in a national pet recovery database. Veterinary hospitals, shelters, and animal control facilities across the country are equipped with scanners that can detect microchips — so if your pet is ever found, a happy reunion is just a scan away.
Even indoor pets can unexpectedly escape, making microchipping a valuable safety measure, whether your pet is young or old, indoor or outdoor.
